Easterlies, thunderstorms to bring rains in PH

MANILA — The easterlies and local thunderstorms are expected to bring rains in the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 4-p.m weather bulletin on Thursday, PAGASA said the easterlies, which are warm winds blowing from the Pacific and stir cloud formation, will cause humidity in the next 24 hours.

The state-run weather bureau also said Metro Manila and other areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms.

PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said there are no expected typhoons to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the coming days.

Rojas added the bureau has not issued any gale warning, which signifies it is safe for fisherfolk with small boats to head out.

The seaboards of extreme northern Luzon are forecast to have moderate to rough coastal waters brought by moderate to strong winds, while the rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters pushed by light to moderate winds.

PAGASA, meanwhile, sees a temperature of 16-36°C in the country until Monday.

On Thursday, PAGASA recorded a minimum temperature of 25.3°C and a maximum temperature of 35°C. (Juzel Danganan/PNA)
