By Gabriela Baron

The 24/7 free rides for the EDSA Bus Carousel, a program from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) are set to expire by year-end.

Starting Jan. 1, 2023 at 5:00 am, fares will be collected from passengers from PITX to Monumento and vice versa.

According to the LTFRB, the “libreng sakay” program accommodated 80,832,186 passengers as of Dec. 27.

Meanwhile, 87 operators and 751 public utility vehicles took part in the program.

-ag
