TIAONG, Quezon — Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito told residents here Thursday morning that he will be seeking a fresh mandate in 2019 to ensure his advocacy of restoring railways system come to fruition.
Ejercito was guest of honor in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the inauguration of the new Rural Health Unit of this town, also in time for Tiaong Mayor Ramon Preza’s 63rd birthday celebration.
In an interview, the solon said he would be seeking another term as senator to make sure one of his programs — the revival of railways system — is realized.
“I’m the only one, since I was in the House who saw the potential of our railway system as an alternative transport system, particularly for the regions in the remote areas such as Bicol Region.”
He added that he already laid out initial plans for the restoration of the railways system with Japanese companies as potential partner for the project.
“Once I am sure that the railways system is on its way to becoming a reality and almost operational, I can retire,” he said.
Part of his plan is to put a food terminal in every station to help the locals and boost the local industry. (Belinda M. Otordoz/PNA)
