ERC to order utility firms to delay disconnections until December

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is set to order MERALCO and other utility firms to delay the power supply disconnections until the end of the year.

ERC Chairperson Agnes Devanadera has guaranteed the Senate that the commission is forming an advisory to extend the grace period to give more leeway for consumers who cannot pay their bills.

MERALCO has initially stated that it will give the consumers until October 31 to settle their bills before disconnection. – PTV News
