Ex-town official in Bukidnon facing 33 graft charges nabbed

MALAYBALAY CITY – At least four regional courts have set a total of nearly a million peso bail for a retired budget officer in Dangcagan town, Bukidnon province, who is facing 33 graft charges.

Bukidnon Police information officer, Senior Insp. Jiselle Ester Lou M. Longakit, said Wednesday the four regional trial courts (RTC) have set the bail for Leonardo Durog at a total of PHP918,000.

Durog, 65, was arrested by virtue of six warrants of arrest at his residence in Barangay Poblacion, Dangcagan last June 10.

He is facing nine counts of Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act or Republic Act (RA) No.  3019 issued by Judge Eldred D. Cole, presiding judge of RTC 10, Branch 10, in Malaybalay City.

Cole issued the warrant of arrest on Sept. 20, 2017, with a fixed bond of PHP30,000 per case for his temporary liberty.

The second “alias warrant” of arrest issued by Judge Isobel G. Barroso, presiding judge of Branch 8, 10th Judicial Region, Malaybalay City for six counts of malversation of public funds and seven counts of violation of RA 3019. Barroso issued the warrant of arrest on Jan. 5, 2018 with a fixed bond of PHP30,000 each case.

On Jan. 23, 2018, Judge Ma. Theresa Aban-Camannong, presiding judge of RTC 10, Branch 9, Malaybalay City issued an alias warrant of arrest against Durog for eight counts of malversation of public funds with a fixed bond at PHP30,000 each case.

Meanwhile, Judge Hazel O. Perez, the presiding judge of 5th MCTC, 10th Judicial Region, Don Carlos town, Bukidnon issued three separate alias warrants of arrest against Durog for violation of Article 218 of the Revised Penal Code, dated July 11, 2017, with a fixed bond of PHP6,000 each case. (PNA)
