Fair weather seen as 2 tropical cyclones exit PAR

MANILA – Most parts of the country will “fair weather” as two tropical cyclones continue to move away outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, July 3.

In its 4:00 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Chaba (formerly “Caloy”) was spotted around 1,120 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon.

“Chaba” is moving northwest at 15 kph with a maximum sustained winds of 95 kph and gustiness that could go up to 160 kph.

Ezra Bulquerin of PAGASA said STS Domeng is also moving northeast outside PAR and, like “Chaba,” will no longer directly affect the country.

PAGASA said southwest monsoon, however, is affecting the western section of Northern Luzon.

Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms that may cause flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, the weather bureau said, will experience cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Baguio City was at 16.0°C at 4:50 a.m. while Dipolog City was at 34.8°C at 8:00 p.m. last night. (PNA) – bny
