MANILA — Most parts of the archipelago will experience fair weather, the weather bureau said Saturday.

Typhoon Tomas (international name, Man-yi) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday evening, but the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) earlier said that “Tomas” is not expected to make landfall, and has no direct effect on any part of the country.

“Tomas” was last eyed at 1,400 km. east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 145 km. per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 180 kph, heading north at 15 kph.

The northeast monsoon affecting northern Luzon will cause cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos and Cordillera regions.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will blow over Luzon, where coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
