Newbie CJ Perez will bring an instant impact to the San MIguel Beermen as the team’s guard.
6-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo believes so.
Perez has been Fajardo’s biggest competitor in the MVP Race in the 2019 Season when the former was still part of the Terrafirma Dyip.
“Malaki magiging impact ni CJ (Perez) sa team namin… Malaking bagay si CJ sa amin. Malaki ‘yong maitutulong n’ya sa team. Noong nasa Dyip pa siya, sa TerraFirma siya, sobrang ganda ng nilaro niya. Sana madala niya ‘yon sa ano sa SMB. For sure madadala niya,” Fajardo shared.
According to San Miguel Head Coach Leo Austria, the arrival of the Baby Beast could be the solution to the longstanding problem of the Beermen.
“‘Yong pagdating ni CJ (Perez), it will help us a lot dito sa team namin especially ‘yong mga teammates niya na talagang ang hahaba ng playing time, so mai-spreadout ito. It’s good for everybody dahil hahaba ‘yong rotation namin,”Austria disclosed.
The Beermen let go of Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Gelo Alolino, Russel Escoto and two first round picks to get Perez from TerraFirma Dyip.
The 27-year-old guard churned out an average of 24.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in his last conference with the Dyip. – Report by Ma. Isabel Reyes/ JBB-rir
