Fajardo to train with the Beermen soon

San Miguel Head Coach Leo Austria shared the good news with PTV Sports that 6-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo is one step closer to full recovery from his complete right tibia fracture.

According to Austria, the 6-foot-10 big man has already been given a clearance to resume some on-court activities.

“Before mag-lockdown tayo, he is about to start ‘yong court drills. Actually, nagshu-shooting na s’ya. May forward, backward and lateral movement na siya. Ang kailangan n’ya, makasabay s’ya sa team practice, full practice,” Austria said.

Watch this report from Ma. Isabel Reyes:

It was February of last year when Fajardo sustained the injury during practice. But the San Miguel bench tactician assured that they will not force the recovery of the Cebu-native center.

Alam natin na more than a year na walang laro. There’s a period of adjustment. Hindi ko ineexpect na talagang he will be back into his old form after nitong nangyaring ito sa kanya, which took determination and discipline and hard work. I think mayroong short period of adjustment lang ‘yan We’re optimistic na makakalaro talaga siya ngayong season na ito,” Austria said.

Fajardo’s absence was a big blow for the Beermen in the last Philippine Cup where the team only made it to the quarter finals. He is now able to do online workouts with the Beermen and is expected to join the squad’s training soon. Report by Ma. Isabel Reyes/ JBB-rir
