FB fake accounts probe eyed in Lower House

The Lower House is considering an investigation on the reported recent surge of fake and dummy Facebook accounts.

In House Resolution No. 968 filed by Muntinlupa Representative Ruffy Biazon, he emphasized that private data of some Facebook users might have been compromised.

“[This] apparent breach opens up its users, particularly the youth, to a slew of exploitations like the threat of cybercrime such as online bullying, harassment, identity theft, violation of privacy and others,” a part of the resolution posted by Biazon on Twitter read.

Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro City Representative Rufus Rodriguez requested President Rodrigo Duterte to call on Congress to conduct a special session. This aims to pass the Php 1.3 trillion Economic Stimulus Bill passed by the Lower House to aid the economy which has been severely affected by the pandemic.

“Time is of the essence. We should approve this stimulus package to help various sectors crippled by the Covid-19 pandemic. If we wait until August or September after we convene for our second regular session in late July, we will have wasted precious time,” Rodriguez said. – Report from Daniel Manalastas
