FDA to decide on Sinovac’s vaccination on children soon

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will decide on the Sinovac application for its use on children aged 3 years old and above.

FDA Director-General Eric Domingo said on Wednesday (July 22) there are still matters that the vaccine experts need to clarify with the Chinese vaccine company regarding their application for the revised emergency use authorization (EUA).

Domingo said the agency will decide on the application within two weeks.

However, Domingo highlighted that the children are not yet prioritized in the country’s vaccination drive due to the lack of vaccine supply. He emphasized that the priority for now are senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.

China has initially granted an EUA to Sinovac to vaccinate kids.
