The four Filipinos feared to be among those trapped in a collapsed condominium in quake-hit Myanmar remain unaccounted for, the Philippine Embassy in Yangon said.

A team from the embassy earlier met with the search and rescue officials at Sky Villa—one of the worst disaster sites in the city—as well as officials of the Mandalay General Hospital to confirm the identities of rescued or recovered foreigners.

“At this time, no positive identification has been made for any rescued persons or recovered cadavers in connection with the four Filipinos who are presumed in the rubble,” it said in an advisory Tuesday night.

The embassy also said its team had also met with the other 11 Filipinos who survived the Sky Villa collapse to get more useful information.

“The Embassy remains in close coordination with relevant authorities and is exerting all efforts to ascertain the status of our nationals. Search and retrieval operations are still ongoing,” it said.

There are approximately 2,000 Filipinos in Myanmar, but the actual number remains uncertain due to the presence of scam hubs and human trafficking cases that involve Filipinos.

The Department of Migrant Workers earlier said at least nine Filipinos were also confirmed safe in Myawaddy, a town near the Thailand border where Filipino human trafficking victims are being rescued.

Filipinos in Mandalay may reach out to the Embassy’s Assistance to Nationals hotline at +95998521 0991 or the Filipino coordinators there. (PNA)
