Final broadcast test of DepEd TV begins

The Department of Education Television (DepEd TV) has started its final test broadcast in preparation for the upcoming opening of classes on October 5. This will last until Friday

The test broadcast reached the target number of episodes and will be aired over IBC 13 for students who have chosen television as their learning modality under distance learning.

“Corresponding ito actually ng isang araw ng TV episodes that we will be airing on October 5. Importante itong dry run para mapag-praktisan naman yung mga procedures para araw-araw makapag-broadcast tayo ng 6 to 27 episodes amounting to 130 episodes per week (This corresponds to a day of TV episodes that we will be airing on October 5. This dry run is important to practice the procedures for the daily broadcast of 6 to 27 episodes, or 130 episodes per week),” DepEd-ICTS Dir. Abram Abanil shared.

Only major subjects will be broadcast because DepEd TV still cannot air all subjects by October 5. This matter is now being addressed so that more will be shown by 2021.

“Ida-dub din namin ‘yung mga episode namin, especially yung Kinder to Grade 3 na mga episode. Ida-dub namin sa local languages (We will dub our episodes into local languages, especially those for Kinder to Grade 3),” Abanil stated.

The education department is also now in the process of adding more teacher-broadcasters in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the DepEd is keeping track of the distribution of learning modules.

“Pwede po talaga, possible na 47,000 schools kami, ‘pag maghahanap tayo kung sino ‘yung wala pa, mayroon pa talaga (It is possible that with 47,000 schools, some of them still do not have modules if we search for them),” DepEd USec. Diosdado San Antonio admitted.

“Kasi 2 weeks to go pa naman, pero lahat po ng ulat on track sila sa schedule. Though may few percentage pa (There are still two weeks before the opening but reports note that everybody is on track with the schedule. Although there are still few percentages [to be completed]),” San Antonio added. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
