MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to release on Saturday the final list of national candidates for the May 13, 2019 National and Local Elections (NLE).

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said some 77 senatorial bets may be on the final list, noting that they are still waiting for the Certificate of Finality of 14 aspirants.

“We don’t want to release the list early since it is not the final list yet. Once we have that (Certificate of Finality), once it is sure, we will release it,” Jimenez said in an interview Friday.

“The possibility is the final list might be 77 minus 14,” he said.

The poll body official, however, declined to release the names.

For the party-list organization, Jimenez added that the potential bets might be at 134.

The Comelec is looking to have the final list of candidates for them to start the printing of the official ballots for the forthcoming polls.

Some 61 million ballots will be printed for the May elections.
