First round of Sinovac shots takes off in Bacoor City

114 healthcare workers of the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Bacoor City have been inoculated with the first batch of doses of the Sinovac vaccines from the national government.

Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla sees the very first rollout of vaccines as a major milestone as it paves the way to the new normal in people’s lives.

“Masasabi nating ito ay makasaysayan ngayong nandito na at handa ang 114 doses ng Sinovac. Naniniwala po ako dahil sa pagsasama-samang pwersa at pagtulong-tulong ng national government, local government unit, DOH ay tayo po ay magiging successful sa vaccination program na ito (I could say that this event is historic now that 114 doses of Sinovac are ready. I believe that as we get together and with the help of the national government, local government unit, DOH, we will be successful in this vaccination program),” Mayor Mercado-Revilla lauded.

The rollout aims to vaccinate 2,200 healthcare workers from both private and public hospitals in the city. Priority will be given to frontliners of COVID-19 facilities directly caring and giving medical services to patients positive with the virus.

Bacoor City Health Office Dr. Ivy Marie Yrastorza allayed the fears of her colleagues saying, “Sa mga kapwa health care workers ito po ay safe. Ito po ay mabisang proteksyon because the vaccine is safe and serves as an effective protection against the deadly disease (To my fellow health care workers, this is safe. It is an effective protection because the vaccine is safe and serves as an effective protection against the deadly disease).”

Meanwhile, the Department of Health continues its campaign to convince healthcare workers to be part of the nationwide vaccination against COVID-19.- Dwight Sunico, PIA Laguna
