Floods affect 15,000 families in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY — Floods brought about by incessant rains the past three days have affected 15,963 families in 15 barangays from seven towns in Maguindanao.

Data from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao–Humanitarian Emergency Assistance Response Team (ARMM – HEART) indicated the families affected per municipality are Shariff Saydona Mustapha (5 barangays — 1,812 families); Sultan sa Barongis (5 barangays — 1,612); and Sultan Kudarat (16 barangays — 4, 980).

Also included in the list are Sultan Mastura (5 barangays — 539); Mangudadatu (8 barangays — 3,417); Ampatuan (3 barangays — 646); and Kabuntalan (11 barangays — 2,962).

Myrna Jocelyn Henry, ARMM-HEART spokesperson, said relief assistance are now being prepared for the affected families.

“We are in the process of dispatching soonest the relief goods to the flood victims,” she told PNA in an interview.

The bad weather brought about by an LPA caused by Typhoon Storm Pablo is currently affecting most parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. (PNA)
