Former permanent representative to the United Nations Enrique Manalo took an oath in Malacañang on Friday, July 1, as the new Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) secretary under Marcos administration.
Manalo will replace former DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.
The appointment was confirmed by Communications Secretary Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles.
Manalo, 69, was appointed by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as acting DFA secretary in 2017.
He was later named as the Philippine ambassador in Germany and then at the UN in New York in 2020. –ag
