GenTri job fair draws 1.2K applicants

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – More or less 1,208 job seekers tried their luck at employment during the city’s Job Fair 2018 held at the Robinson’s Place-Gentri activity arena in Barangay Tejero on Monday.

Mayor Antonio Ferrer spearheaded the job fair through the city’s Public Employment Service Office, headed by Ariel Mugol, as part of the city government’s thrust on employment generation and work placements for their constituents.

“The Job Fair is an annual project of our government for the people of General Trias and neighboring towns or cities, to make it much easier for them to get a job and the main livelihood of every citizen,” Ferrer said.

Mugol said 45 local companies and seven overseas agencies took part in the event.

He said 34 aspirants immediately qualified for local jobs and were hired on the spot, while some 404 qualified for overseas work and were most likely asked to present additional requirements at a later date. Of those who qualified for employment, 152 were reportedly female, he added.

“Government agencies like the Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, National Statistics Agency, and Social Security System joined the project to assist applicants who had difficulty in applying for permits required for their employment,” Mugol said in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Among the participating companies, besides Robinsons, were business and industry locators in this city’s economic zones and industrial parks, such as Gateway Business Park, Cavite Export Processing Zone Authority, First Cavite Industrial Estate, Gen. City Computer Center, Jobstart Philippines, and the National College of Science and Technology-Institute of Industrial Research and Training. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
