MMDA spox surprised by shortlist on Roque’s replacement

MANILA — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Celine Pialago said Wednesday it is inappropriate to discuss at this time who would replace Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque when he decides to run in next year’s mid-term elections.

“I was surprised to have been mentioned in a reported shortlist of people who will replace Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque,” Pialago said in a statement.

“It is still uncertain if Secretary Roque will run for any elective office and has not resigned. It is inappropriate and ill-timed to discuss filling the position of Presidential Spokesperson while it has not been vacated,” she added.

The MMDA official said the matter of replacing Roque must be left to President Rodrigo Duterte.

The agency is currently focused on implementing initiatives to manage the expected traffic congestion for the All Saints’ Day break and holiday season, Pialago said. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
