Prior to the announcement of the SIM Card registration extension, Globe sent alerts using the Emergency Cell Broadcast System (ECB) to instill urgency in subscribers who are not yet registered.

The ECB is commonly utilized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to send emergency alerts during disasters and emergencies.

President and CEO of Globe Group Ernest Cu explained that the company took this step to ensure compliance among their customers.

“This way, they will continue to enjoy our call, text, and data services for their day-to-day needs,” Cu stated.

Moreover, Globe announced that NDRRMC has “given no objections on the of ECB after prior notice.”

Globe set 147 stores and 25 EasyHubs as assistance centers and created partnerships to build assisted registration sites in more than 100 sites nationwide.

As of April 22, Globe already recorded 35.8 million registrations out of its 86.7 million subscribers. – gb
