Globe boosts 4G network capacity in NCR, Rizal, Bulacan and Cavite

Globe’s efforts to modernize its services further have resulted with the successful upgrade of its network to provide incremental 4G capacity in Metro Manila and most areas of Rizal, Bulacan and Cavite.

In Metro Manila, Globe has fired up 86% of its target migration to 4G. Pateros, Marikina City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City and Navotas comprise the top cities with the highest percentage of completion. The rest of the National Capital Region is not far behind at 73%.

“With the upgrades, we are hoping to help not just the ordinary Filipinos but also those who are making the most out of the COVID-19 pandemic. With 4G, small and medium businesses will get the boost they need now that the traditional means to sell are no longer applicable to sustain their survival. The technology will keep them competitive in the new normal,” Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group, said.

4G LTE has many advantages over 3G. Aside from better connectivity, 4G offers higher bandwidth and provides faster broadband speeds. It also offers low latency and improved network responsiveness which is needed for enhanced user experience. 4G’s high spectrum efficiency makes network capacity larger to support a higher number of users.

Aside from Metro Manila, similar efforts to upgrade its network are underway in neighboring provinces as well.

In Rizal, at least 92% of the upgrade is done. Work has also started in Binangonan, Cainta and Pililla to complete the installations in the whole province.

There are at least 78% upgrades completed that have been improved to 4G in Bulacan while 65% have been upgraded in Cavite.

Globe is also eyeing to improve its network in Pampanga, Batangas, Laguna, Cebu (Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City), Davao City, Iloilo City, Bacolod City and Boracay.

To fully experience the advantages of 4G, Globe customers are encouraged to check if their SIM cards are 4G-capable. Globe postpaid and prepaid customers only need to text SIM CHECK to 8080. Those who are still using 2G/3G SIM may bring their SIMs to the nearest Globe Stores to upgrade to 4G SIM for free. Postpaid Mobile customers can also request to have their SIMs changed via the GlobeOne App.
