Globe to serve more Filipinos abroad with 5G roaming expansion

Globe is on track to own the widest 5G coverage globally as it continues to expand its roster of 5G roaming partners.

Globe assures that Filipino travelers abroad will be able to access 5G roaming services when they travel, adding the following countries to its still-growing list of locations: Japan through Softbank, Turkey through Turk Telecom, Switzerland’s Swisscom. O2 Czech Republic, the largest operator in the Czech market, is set to join Globe’s roster of overseas telco partners by August 20.

The company has also partnered with Israel’s Pelephone so its visiting subscribers from the country may enjoy the benefits of 5G in the Philippines.

“Our relentless 5G roaming expansion efforts are driven by our commitment to provide the best travel experience for our customers worldwide,” said Coco Domingo, Globe Vice President for Postpaid and International.

Globe Postpaid and Prepaid customers currently abroad and those intending to travel to top destinations worldwide could enjoy a more stable internet with hardly any delay when they connect to the 5G network of Globe’s partner telcos.

Subscribers of Globe’s roaming partners will also have access to Globe’s 5G network when they visit the Philippines as long as they are using 5G-enabled phones in over 1,700 5G locations.

Globe Postpaid subscribers only have to turn on mobile data and data roaming on their device settings to enjoy all-day data roaming.  There is no need to register.  Prepaid users may enjoy various roaming promos by registering via the GlobeOne or GCash apps or dialing *143#.

Globe’s affordable roaming promos include Roam Surf 399 for Postpaid and Prepaid subscribers and its new call and text add-on, Roam Surf Plus.  With Roam Surf Plus, Postpaid subscribers can enjoy all-day calls and texts when they upsize their Roam Surf 399’s all-day data for only P200. Meanwhile, Prepaid subscribers can enjoy 60 minutes of calls and 60 all-net texts when they register to Roam Surf Plus, with an active Roam Surf 399 subscription. 5G is the latest wireless internet connectivity that promises higher bandwidth, very low latency, and a more stable internet connection. The telco remains committed to bringing more bandwidth capacity to Filipinos at a lower cost by tapping more efficient technologies like 5G.

Globe strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, highlighting the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. It is committed to upholding the United Nations Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 UN SDGs.
