DAVAO CITY — Philippine super lightweight champion Jheritz “Goodboy” Chavez (8-3-2) of Cebu will defend his title against Junar Adante (7-11-1) of Surigao del Sur on Feb. 16 at the SM City North EDSA Skydome in Quezon City.
Chavez, 27, retained his title against Reymond Yanong by a knockout in the third round March last year in San Pedro, Laguna.
In his last fight, Chavez lost to Rikki Naito of Japan by a majority decision in Korakuen Hall for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super lightweight title.
Adante, 27 has last won in 2017 to Joepher Montano by a technical knockout in the 7th round. He then suffered losses.
The last one was against Ryan Sermona at Elorde Sports Complex last December 9.
The Chavez-Adante is for 10-rounder.
Pitted in the main event is battle for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental featherweight title between Dave Penalosa of the Philippines and Marcos Cardenas of Mexico.
The event will also see other bouts between John Riel Casimero vs. Kenya Yamashita (10 rds-118 lbs); Carl Jammes Martin vs. Petchochorhae Kokietgym (10 rds-118 lbs); Carlo Caesar Penalosa vs. Watana Phenbaan (10 rds-115 lbs); Jenel Lausa vs. Rolly Llino (6 rds-135 lbs); and, John Mark Tihuk vs. Ruben Traza (6 rds-108 lbs).
