Gov’t initiative to streamline business registration now operational

Business registration in the Philippines may now be completed in nine steps within seven and a half days from the current 13 steps in 33 days through the National Business One Stop Shop (NBOSS).

The NBOSS is the physical co-location where applicants can register their business and employees, submit documents, and avail of its online services. It hosts key agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) and the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG).

“Sa NBOSS, walang naaaksayang oras, walang komplikadong proseso, at higit sa lahat, wala o mababawasan ng ‘di hamak ang fixer at lagay – purong serbisyo lang. Sa pamamagitan ng NBOSS, ilang sandali lang, negosyante ka na,” Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II said.

The first NBOSS location was launched last February 28 at the SEC office located at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The NBOSS is a joint initiative of the DICT and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) in partnership with other social service agencies as provided for in Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

ARTA Director General Jeremiah B. Belgica commended the DICT, led by Honasan, for linking various government agencies through ICT, allowing an inter-agency system and a whole of government approach to streamlining business registrations.

“Maraming salamat sa DICT dahil lahat po kami ay napagtatahi-tahi ninyo, and very soon we could really see that things are just going to get better and better,” Belgica said.

He added that the establishment of the NBOSS is no simple task but was made possible through the collaboration and commitment of the DICT and various government agencies.
