The Manila City government on Wednesday, March 25, received about 200,000 N95 masks, 100,000 surgical masks and 2,000 thermal scanners from the Guangzhou municipal government.

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno Domagoso” personally received the donation from Guangzhou, a sister city of the Philippine capital.

Upon receipt of the donation, Domagoso ordered the immediate distribution of the masks and scanners to frontliners and barangay workers.

“We will issue two thermal scanners per barangay, while the masks will be distributed to our healthcare workers and frontliners in hospitals and other public health facilities,” the Mayor said.

The turnover of the donation was facilitated by Guangzhou Consul General Marshall Louis Alferez and Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office representative Tan Cong through Secretary to the Manila Mayor Bernardito Ang.

Likewise, the Mayor encouraged citizens to cooperate with the government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are working hard to meet the needs of more than 1.8 million Manilenos. I humbly appeal to all citizens to please stay at home and please stay safe. We’ll be there for you,” he said.
