Gun-for-hire leader in Pampanga nabbed in anti-drug op

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Police arrested a suspected leader of a gun-for-hire group during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Telapayong, Arayat town, this province, on Thursday.

Senior Supt. Nicolas Salvador, Arayat police chief, identified the suspect as Ariel Maniago of the Maniago Group operating in the towns of Arayat and Mexico.

He said the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Arayat Police conducted a buy-bust operation against Maniago, who was arrested after handing over a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) to a poseur buyer.

Confiscated from the suspect were five sachets of shabu and a marked PHP500 bill.

Santiago said during investigation, it was found out that the Maniago Group was also responsible for a series of robbery, break–in, theft, and hold–up incidents, not only in this province but also in nearby Bataan and Tarlac. (Ric Sapnu/PNA)
