The Philippine National Police Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG) has revoked the License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and firearm registration of Wilfredo Gonzales, the dismissed police officer who pulled a weapon against a cyclist in Quezon City on Aug. 8.

The driver’s Permit To Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR) was also revoked.

“The possession and ownership of firearms are not absolute rights but rather a privilege. The PNP reserves the authority to revoke LTOPF, Firearm Registration and PTCFOR, especially in cases where there are grounds for revocation and cancellation,” PNP-CSG Director BGen. Benjamin Silo Jr. said.

“Public safety remains a top priority for the PNP, and measures will be continually taken to maintain the integrity of the licensure system. The PNP emphasizes the significance of responsible gun ownership in creating a safe and secure environment for all citizens,” he added.

The PNP Firearms and Explosives Office has already confiscated all the firearms of Gonzales, which include three caliber .45 and one 9-millimeter pistol.
