‘Habagat’ to bring rain showers across PH

MANILA – The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring rain showers in most areas in the country on Thursday, the weather bureau said.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the “habagat” will prevail over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Central Luzon, Region 4-A (Calabarzon), Region 4-B (Mimaropa), Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, BARMM and the Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin.

The rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will also continue to prevail in the entire archipelago.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau is still monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) that was last tracked 395 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

“It has no direct effect (on) any part of the country, and we are expecting it to dissipate in the next 24 to 48 hours,” PAGASA weather specialist Patrick del Mundo said.

The effect of the “habagat” is forecast to continue until Friday, del Mundo added. (PNA)
