Half a million Filipinos assisted by gov’t One-Stop Shop for OFWs

The One-Stop Shop established by the government to expedite the required processes for returning overseas Filipinos has already provided service to 500,000 individuals.

Authorities have welcomed the milestone of the One-Stop Shop which has been in place in airport terminals since April.

“Siempre situation nila babalik sila ng nawalan ng trabaho, pagod tapos ang sasalubong pang proseso ay ‘di organized. Lalong malungkot ‘yung pagbalik nila. With this, mabilis ang ano. In a few hours, nakapunta na sila sa kanilang quarantine facilities (They come home without a job, tired, and an unorganized process welcomes them. Their return will be sadder. With this, the [process] was sped up. In a few hours, they can head to quarantine facilities immediately),” USec. Raul del Rosario shared.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Bureau of Quarantine, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Philippine Coast Guard have joined forces for the swab testing operations at the airport.

Government agencies assured that the operations of the One-Stop Shop will not end at 500,000. This will instead mark the start of more organized procedures for returning modern heroes. – Report from Karen Villanda
