Some areas in Manila may be placed under hard lockdown if the number of COVID-19 cases increases under the modified enhanced community quarantine.
Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno said there is no clear assessment yet on the result of MECQ in Manila, but the rise and fall in the number of cases within the city are being monitored. Moreno asked the public to observe discipline since the readiness of Manila for the new normal is based on the residents.
Meanwhile, the new quarantine facility in Tondo High School with a fully air-conditioned 40-bed capacity and comfort room was opened today. Other quarantine facilities in the city are also currently being built in preparation for the possible rise in COVID-19 cases.
As of May 20, there are 1,118 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city and 855 are active cases. There are also 1,221 suspected cases and 1,065 probable cases. – Report from Louisa Erispe
