House approves bill vs women discrimination in workplace


The House of Representatives has approved the bill against discrimination of women in the workplace.

Under the bill, favoring male employees over their female counterparts with regards to job assignment, promotion, training, and scholarship will be considered as a discriminatory act.
The bill also prohibits the favoring of male employees over females on dismissal of personnel or the application of any retrenchment policy of the employer, whether actual or presumed as well as to deny women’s benefits due to her gender.

If the bill will be passed into law, violators will be fined from ₱50,000 to ₱200,000 and imprisonment of 1 to 2 years. – PTV News
