House suspends Teves for 60 days

Negros Oriental Third District Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. has been suspended from service for 60 days.

This was after the House of Representatives approved the recommendation of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges to suspend Teves because of his continued absence and for staying abroad despite the expiration of his travel authority.

Teves previously said that he is staying abroad due to a threat to his security. He has yet to respond to the decision of the House.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, in his speech before the Congress goes into a Lenten break, said they will not tolerate misconduct of its members. AG/With reports from Mela Lesmoras – gb
