IBP: Pabor na idaan sa dayalogo ang usapin sa West Phil Sea

Binigyang diin ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) na mas mainam umanong idaan sa dayalogo kaysa sa debate ang usapan sa mga polisiya sa West Philippine Sea.

“Public debates may promote transparency and are quite interesting and entertaining. But are debates the most prudent or effective way of moving forward with our legal victories in the WPS?” tanong ng grupo.

Anila, mahalaga na ang mga nasa katungkulan at tunay na nakakaalam sa isyu na maibahagi sa mas positibong paraan ang mga detalye ng usapan.

“It would be helpful if ALL those in authority and in the know, well-meaning as they all are, agree to dialogue, discuss, share information, data and ideas in a constructive manner so that the better options to protect and promote our national interests in the West Philippine Sea may be crafted,” mungkahi nito.

Dagdag pa ng grupo, mas mahalaga na magkaisa ang bansa ngayon, lalo pa’t patuloy pa rin ang epekto ng COVID-19 pandemic sa bansa.

Nitong Miyerkules (Mayo 5) nang hamunin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si dating Associate Justice Antonio Carpio sa isang debate. Agad naman itong tinanggap ng dating mahistrado.

Ngunit kahapon lamang (Mayo 7), inatasan ng Pangulo si Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na humalili sa kanya. Malugod namang tinanggap ng tagapagsalita ang utos ng Pangulo. – Ulat ni Ken Bornilla/AG-RIR
