CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela – The City of Ilagan collected three gold medals at the 4th Brillante International Dancesport Championship held at the Orchard Hotel in Singapore over the weekend.

City General Services Officer and designated sports coordinator Ricky Laggui said the city’s homegrown talents proved that they can excel in international competitions as the team also won five silvers and a bronze to finish fourth in the annual competition.

“The continuing support, love and trust of the local officials to the children has been spurring motivation to bring more honors for the City of Ilagan in the regional, national and international competitions,” said Laggui, who accompanied the team in Singapore.

The pair of Justin Aglugub and Isa Jacinto bested their rivals in Standard Juvenile A while the pair of Ricky Nelson Laggui Jr. and Colline Pascua finished runner-up in the same event.

Mickelson Deolazo and Abcey Taquiqui, on the other hand, bagged the gold in Latin Juvenile B event and later settled for first runner-up in Latin Juvenile A.

In Junior Standard C and Pre-Amateur Standard C categories, Lance Mabitazan and Princess Dianne Valdez tabbed first runner-up while the pair of Nikko Gatdula and Rose Manabat took second runner-up.

The DanceSport Academy (Melvin & Sharon) has organized the 4th Brillante International DanceSport Championship (Freedom to Dance), which featured top adjudicator-dancers from around the world and guest artists, Kirill Belorukov and Polina Teleshova from Russia. It started in 2006.
