Ilocos Norte monitors entry of gov’t workers in gambling sites

LAOAG CITY– Public officials and employees in the province have been reminded to strictly comply with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive prohibiting them from going to casinos or engage in any form of gambling.

Governor Ma. Imelda Marcos reiterated this on Friday, as she directed personnel of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office to implement President Duterte’s order.

The Office of the President issued Memorandum Circular No. 06 enjoining all government workers to strictly observe and comply with the prohibition against going to gambling places.

In Ilocos Norte, Provincial Director Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified monitoring their entry in casinos and cockpits.

Nartatez said it also set up signages to discourage them from going in these areas.

Some police personnel were deployed in the seven cockpits and two casinos in the province.

The PNP also sent letter and a copy of the memorandum circular to the Vice Governor, League of Mayors of the Philippines-Ilocos Norte Chapter, Association of Barangay Councils and department heads to solicit their all out support. (PNA)
