Ilocos Norte residents welcome resumption of ‘Capitol Express’

LAOAG CITY — Capitol Express (Capex), a program which brings the different front line services of the Ilocos Norte government to the grassroots, has resumed after several months of deactivation.

One of the beneficiaries, 76-year-old Erlinda Ramos of Barangay Ar-aruay, Piddig town, said she was among the hundreds of residents in the province, who were in need of medical checkup but she was having difficulty in going to the hospital.

On Monday, she was relieved when members of the Provincial Health Office composed of doctors and nurses arrived at the village hall to provide free medical consultations and dental services to residents.

“I am delighted for the comeback of the Capex. I can easily avail of the provincial government services without going to the city,” said Ramos, adding that she was able to get free medicines for her joint pains and a reading glass.

Starting this month, the Capex team has been going around the different towns of Ilocos Norte to bring various government services to the people.

For 2018, Capex resumed only this month in light of the different activities of the Provincial Capitol.

Governor Imee Marcos assured her constituents that the Ilocos Norte government will continue to improve the said program to further serve and reach more Ilocanos, especially in the far-flung areas of the province. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
