Ilocos Norte top drug suspect dies in Laoag sting ops

A suspected drug peddler was killed during a police operation at Brgy. Balacad, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas said that this happened in a joint operation of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 1 led by PLTCOL Jonathan B Papay and Laoag City Police Station led by PLTCOL Rafael Lero, Chief of Police (Operating Team) under the supervision of PCOL Christopher N Abrahano, Provincial Direftor , Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office that was conducted on Thursday against ROEL MAGLINTE ADAON, 32, of Barangay Juan, Solsona, Ilocos Norte.

Citing the report of Police Regional Office 1 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Emmanuel B Peralta, Sinas said ADAON was a drug personality listed as Top 10 priority targets of Police Regional Office 1.

Initial investigation disclosed that ADAON sold two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing alleged shabu worth Php 10,000 to a police undercover operative. Just as the police officer was about to effect the arrest, Adaon drew a handgun and fired successive shots at the police officer who managed to defend himself by firing shot that hit Adaon in the chest.

ADAON was rushed to the Laoag City General Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced Dead on Arrival by an attending physician, the report said.

Soco Team processed the crime scene and was able to recover the four pieces fired cartridge cases for cal.45; one piece fired cartridge for cal.9mm; one live ammunition for cal.45; one caliber 45 pistol with magazine containing one live ammunition.
