Ilocos Norte town bans firecrackers

LAOAG CITY — In time for the holiday season, the municipality of Bangui, Ilocos Norte has passed an ordinance prohibiting the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in all public spaces.

For the safety of the public, town Mayor Fidel Cimatu encouraged his constituents to celebrate the Yuletide season with merrymaking activities without using firecrackers or fireworks display.

All firecrackers will be banned from any public space, including city streets, roads, alleys, open spaces, public parks, plazas, basketball courts and other similar places.
