The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) said the use of “CTTO” (credits to the owner) is considered a violation of intellectual property rights.
Individuals who repost other people’s photos or artworks without the proper credit are violating intellectual property laws, according to IPOPHL.
It is the mandate of the agency to protect creators’ intellectual property rights through the issuance of trademark, patent, or copyright.
Under the code, patent and copyright infringement may be penalized from one to nine years of imprisonment on top of a P50,000 to P1.5 million fine. – Report from Gillian Geronino/GB-ag
