ITCZ to bring rains over parts of PH; ‘Quedan’ might exit PAR Saturday

MANILA — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan and Mindanao, as well as a northeasterly surface windflow, will cause rains over parts of the archipelago, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

The ITCZ is expected to cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over northern Mindanao, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula and Palawan, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The Cordillera and Cagayan regions will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to a northeasterly surface windflow, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also said Severe Tropical Storm Quedan might exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Saturday afternoon.

“Quedan” was last eyed at 740 km. northeast of Basco, Batanes. The bureau earlier said that “Quedan”, moving north at 23 kph, is heading for Japan.

Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally strong winds will blow from southwest to southeast over Palawan. Its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough.

Moderate to strong winds will prevail over the rest of Luzon with moderate to rough seas.

Over Visayas and Mindanao, light to moderate winds will prevail with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
