ITCZ to bring rains over parts of Visayas, Mindanao

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

Several areas in the Visayas and Mindanao will experience rains brought by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the weather bureau said Friday, May 27.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro Region.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast the possibility of flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will have fair weather, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms likely in the afternoon or evening, Ezra Bulquerin of PAGASA said.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will also have fair weather, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon or evening.

The temperature in Tuguegarao may reach up to 35 °C; Metro Manila up to 34 °C; Legazpi, Kalayaan Islands and Laoag up to 33 °C.

“No weather disturbance is expected to develop or affect the country in the next three days,” Bulquerin said.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail across the archipelago. (PNA)
