LAOAG CITY — Thousands of job offers will be made available for Ilocanos by some 50 local and overseas companies that will participate in the Labor Day Job Fair at the Robinsons Mall in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte on May 1.

“There are thousands of jobs offering so we are calling on job applicants to prepare their resume for a greater chance to get their dream job during the job fair,” said Anne Marie Lizette B. Atuan, manager of the Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO), in an interview on Tuesday.

She advised applicants to submit their resume to as many companies as they could, to increase their chances of getting hired.

National government agencies will also be participate in the Labor Day event including the Civil Service Commission, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philhealth and many more. Said agencies have earlier posted their job vacancies and will likewise provide on-the-pot services to the public.

PESO maintains an online job portal, bridging the gap between local applicants and employers, and consecutively conducts employment and career counseling, anti-illegal recruitment seminars, and other measures to ensure equitable jobs for all.

It has also organized multiple job fairs in the past, inviting domestic and foreign employers to hire local professionals.

Owing to the continuing job fair programs, the PESO said unemployment rate in the province continues to decrease, making Ilocos Norte the least poor province in the region.

Meanwhile, PESO’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) has hired hundreds of students and out-of-school youths as office assistants and tourist aides in various offices and tourism destinations in the province.
