July 9 declared a holiday for Eid’l Adha

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice a national holiday on Saturday, July 9.

“Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam.”

Republic Act No. 9849 “declared the Tenth day of Zhul Hijia, the Twelfth month of the Islamic Calendar, a national holiday for the observance of Eidul Adha (Eid’l Adha), with a movable date.”

 “Following the 1443 Hijrah islamic Lunar Calendar, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that 09 July 2022, Saturday, be declared a national holiday, in observance of Eid’l Adha.”

The Palace reiterated that public health measures shall be implemented on the observance of the feast. –ag
