Kidapawan registers zero rabies death since 2014

The city of Kidapawan has recorded no death due to rabies since 2014, its city veterinary office (CVO) said Tuesday.

“We attribute such achievement to responsible pet owners in the city who never skip our anti-rabies vaccination drive over the past four years,” Dr. Eugene Gornez, Kidapawan CVO chief, said.

He said that based on records, their office has vaccinated some 15,000 pets in the city since 2014. “We are targeting more pets for rabies vaccination this year,” he added.

In support of the campaign, the Kidapawan City government has allotted PHP550,000 for the setting up of over 60 pet vaccination stations across the locality on March 30 this year.

This, after Kidapawan Mayor Joseph Evangelista, ordered an all-out campaign against rabies that would cover even far-flung villages of the city.

The mayor has invited pet owners from nearby towns to avail of their free anti-rabies activity later this month.
