Kidnap gang member arrested in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Police arrested an alleged member of a kidnap-for-ransom-group (KFRG) in an intelligence-driven law enforcement operation in this city, an official said Friday.

Police Regional Office 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) information officer, Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, identified the arrested KFRG member as Nasir Daud, a resident of Barangay Tumalutab, this city.

Galvez said Daud was arrested in the vicinity of the Hall of Justice in Barangay Sta. Barbara.at 3:10 p.m. Thursday.

Daud has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of kidnapping and serious illegal detention with ransom, issued by the court in Zamboanga City.

Galvez said the suspect is one of the primary suspects in the kidnapping of Rainer William Clemente in Barangay Pasonanca, this city on Jan. 21, 2004.

Daud was immediately brought to Police Station 11 for blotter entry and was later taken to the office of the Regional Intelligence Unit 9 for proper documentation and subsequent turnover to court concern. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr/PNA)
