Lady scammer victimizing Bulacan online shoppers nabbed

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — The Bulacan police finally caught Monday a woman who victimizes online shoppers in the province.

Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, acting Bulacan police director, identified the suspect as Joan Sal, a resident of Yakal Street, Barangay Bunsuran 1st, Pandi town, this province.

Police investigation showed that Sal was able to hack the Facebook page of E&E Travel Express and offered a “Buy 1 Take 1” promo on iPhones worth PHP20,000  to a certain Michellyn Mae Brioso and Lineth Araneta from Novaliches, Quezon City.

Brioso was able to transact with the suspect and paid PHP20,000 but after the payment was made to a remittance center, the suspect blocked her account in social media.

Araneta, an acquaintance of Brioso, also transacted with the suspect and paid the same amount.

On Monday, Araneta reported the matter to the Malolos police that immediately set an entrapment operation against Sal.

Bersaluna said the police pounced on the suspect when she tried to encash the money sent by Araneta at the LBC Express money remittance branch in Robinson’s Place in Malolos City.

Police recovered from the suspect a fake driver’s license identification card and several transaction receipts from LBC. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
