ALAMINOS, Laguna – This third district town is planning to transform its Rural Health Unit into an infirmary with the constructions of additional facilities to handle emergency cases.
Mayor Loreto M. Masa expressed optimism Thursday that through the support of Laguna 3rd District Rep. Sol Aragones-Sampelo, the town’s dream project would be realized as “first aid hospital” which would offer temporary or short-term confinement.
Masa vowed in his State of the Town Address (SOTA) 2018 that more medical equipment and facilities have to be in place to transform the RHU into an infirmary or first-aid hospital.
He said his governance thrust focuses on health to provide services to indigent constituents and give them access to basic medical services.
The mayor directed the local government health office to acquire modern diagnostic equipment such as X-Ray Machine and Ultrasonography Machine (Ultrasound equipment) and create additional position items for doctors, nurses and radiologic technologist.
Masa added that in the meantime that plans for the infirmary building project are underway, he ordered the launching of “Mobile Clinic ng Masa” (a mobile clinic for the poor) this September to bring the local government’s health and medical services closer to the barangays, especially to the remote villages.
“Ang pamahalaang municipal na ang lalapit sa mga mamamayan sa mga kanayunan at liblib na lugar (the municipal government would now reach out to the constituents in the villages and remote areas),” Masa said.
He assured that barangay health workers would be provided with the necessary health services equipment and paraphernalia as “first responders” since they are easily accessible by patients needing assistance from the municipal health office.
The Mayor also reported that through coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), some 909 heads of the family have been registered with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) with around PHP2.182 million allocation that would benefit the about 5,000 household members.
He told constituents that the local government budget and expenditures are well within strict government spending standards during his two-year administration, proof of which is the town’s achievement with the “Certificate of Good Financial Housekeeping” conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Masa lauded the dedicated services and financial management of the municipal department heads such as Budget Officer Irene Banawa, Municipal Accountant Cirillo Mista, Retired Treasurer Sofia U. Cumpio, former Treasurer officer-in-charge Elsa Manalo, and Acting Municipal Treasurer Josefina A. Tolosa for their jobs well done. (Ruben E. Taningco/PNA)
