Sen. Cynthia A. Villar, together with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu and DPWH Sec. Mark Villar led the inauguration of the Phase 3 of the Zapote River Drive that will help ease traffic congestion and reduce the incidents of flooding in the area.

The road is an 11km road which will connect Barangay Zapote to Daanghari transversing 8 barangays.

“The maintenance road will be an alternative route for private vehicles. Thus, volume of vehicles along the Alabang-Zapote road will be greatly reduced,” Villar said.

Furthermore, the senator adds that travel time will be reduced by 70%.

“I am pleased that with the inauguration of the Phase 3 of this project, we are able to provide more convenience for our commuters, especially those who used to experience horrendous traffic in most of the busy streets of Las Pinas. This should also be a welcome news for our homeowners who no longer need to spend hours on the road going to work and back home,” Villar adds.

The senator has been working closely with the city government of Las Pinas and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to address the traffic problems along the Alabang-Zapote Road.

There are two more phases left for the full completion of the Zapote River Drive project with Phase 4 targeted for inauguration by the first quarter of next year. | senate-pr
