Letran scrapes past tenacious Arellano squad

In a battle of persistence, a grittier team will have the last laugh.

Maturity and composure were fully showcased in this game as the Letran Knights escaped with a stunning 82-75 victory against the tenacious Arellano squad in the NCAA Season 93 at at Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan Arena.

Arellano slightly owned the first quarter of the ball game, leaving behind the Letran with their 25-point showing against the Knights’ 18 points.

The Letran squad, however, suddenly flipped the table as they outplayed the Chiefs with their overpowering defensive prowess, giving them a hard time in the offensive end with just 13 points compared to their monstrous 28 points that narrowed the gap within one point, 58-57.

Baskets after baskets were exposed by the both teams in the 3rd quarter, but the more persistent Arellano emerged in this showdown, gaining their highest lead of the ball game with 7 points.

Another table were flipped but it’s on the other side as the Letran Knights had their last laughs, managing a 4th quarter blast to escape the victory with an impressive 7-point lead, 82-75.

 

“Finally, nakakuha rin kami ng panalo coming off a two-game losing streak,” Letran Coach Jeff Napa said on the post-game presser.

“Sana mayroon pa silang maimprove. Madami pa kaming dapat matutunan kasi bata pa sila (Letran players). Hopefully, sana maging madali para sa kanila ang mga adjustment and learning.” Napa added.

Jeo Ambohot lead the Letran Knights with his 15 points, 13 rebounds, and supported by Rey Nambatac’s 15 markers and 12 boards.

Jeremiah Taladua and Jerric Balanza also contributed through their own double-digit scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
