‘Libreng Sakay’ extended

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Tuesday, June 21, that the “Libreng Sakay” program has been extended.

LTFRB Executive Director Kristina Cassion said they were initially planning to extend the “Libreng Sakay” program until December, however, the Department can no longer sustain the program.

“Malaki talaga yung tulong ng Libreng Sakay program natin, pero as much as we want to continue our program na aabot pa sana hanggang December… Hindi na kayang isustain hanggang December,” Cassion said.

A total of 118 routes in the National Capital Region had concluded the “Libreng Sakay” which started on June 16.

Meanwhile, there are 28 routes that are still under the service contracting program which will also end on June 30.

The only route in EDSA busway will have the Libreng Sakay program until July 30, while they are still monitoring if they can extend the program from Montalban to Quezon Avenue routes that will be passing by Commonwealth Avenue. —Report from Karen Villanda/KC – gb
